REC Ltd and Power Finance Corporation (PFC) Ltd have signed a common loan agreement worth ₹26,850 crore with Meja Urja Nigam Pvt Ltd (MUNPL) to finance a 2400 MW thermal power expansion project in Uttar Pradesh (UP). The total cost of the project is estimated at ₹38,357.81 crore.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved two infrastructure projects to relieve Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The first project involves the development of a 43.218 km Link/Connector Corridor connecting National Highway (NH)-31 and the Varanasi Ring Road along the Varuna River, at a cost of ₹10,998 crore.
The second project entails the development of a 46.039 km Link/Connector Corridor between NH-19 and the Varanasi Ring Road along the Ganga River, at a cost of ₹14,447 crore. Both projects will be implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM).

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav has announced that the Shekha Jheel Bird Sanctuary in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh (UP), is designated as a Ramsar site. This takes the total number of Ramsar sites in India to 99.
With this addition, UP now has 12 Ramsar sites, the second highest in the country. It is to be noted that Tamil Nadu holds the highest number of Ramsar sites in India with 20 designated wetlands (as of February 2026).
