President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new Governors for 6 Indian states. It includes: Rajendra Arlekar as the full-time Governor of Tamil Nadu, OP Mathur for Kerala, Dr Sudha Yadav for Karnataka, Braj Mohan Ram for Odisha, Dhal Singh Bisen for Uttarakhand, and Dushyant Gautam for Sikkim.

Rajeshwari Kumari, a former Indian trap shooter, has been elected as a member of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Athletes Commission to represent the South Asia region for the 2026-2030 term.

She is the second Indian to serve on the commission after Shiva Keshavan, who is currently the Vice-Chairman.

Om Birla, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha (LS), and CP Radhakrishnan, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha (RS), have reconstituted 24 Departmentally-Related Standing Committees (DRSCs) for the 2026-27 term.

Bhartruhari Mahtab, a BJP MP, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Committee on Finance, while Shashi Tharoor, a Congress MP, will head the Committee on External Affairs. Both these committees consist of 31 members, including 21 from the LS and 10 from the RS. Additionally, Radha Mohan Singh of the BJP is designated as the head of the Committee on Defence.

Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, the current Vice Chief of the Air Staff, has been appointed as the 29th Chief of the Air Staff (CAS).

He will assume the rank of Air Chief Marshal from October 31, 2026, succeeding Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh.

Dinesh Pant and Girija Subramanian have been appointed as the Whole-Time Members of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).

Justice Sunita Agarwal, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, and Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh have been elevated as judges of the Supreme Court. With their appointments, the working strength of the top court has increased to 37.

Harsh Mukeshbhai Sanghani, an Indian cooperator, has been re-elected unopposed as the President of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) Youth Committee for the 2026-2030 term, following the annual plenary meeting and elections held in Panama.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Mandeep K Bhandari as the Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He succeeds Lokhande Prashant Sitaram.

Dinesh Pant has been appointed as the Whole-Time Member (Actuary) of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) for a period of 5 years.

He took voluntary retirement from the post of MD of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to join the IRDAI.

Luke J Lindberg has been appointed as the Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) for a 5-year term. He succeeds Cindy McCain.

Dileep Sanghani, the Chairman of the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO), has been elected as an At-Large Director to the Global Board of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) for the 2026-2030 term.

Dr Ariel Guarco of Argentina was re-elected unopposed as the President of the ICA for the same tenure. It is to be noted that the ICA Global Board consists of 30 members.

Jayanti Prasad, a Whole-Time Member (WTM) of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI), has been given an additional charge as the Chairperson of the IBBI. He succeeds Ravi Mital and will hold the post until November 20, 2026.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has reconstituted the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with 18 members for a tenure of 3 years. The panel will be led by Shashi Shekhar Vempati, the Chairperson of the CBFC.

It is to be noted that the reconstitution takes immediate effect. The previous formal restructuring of the board occurred in 2017.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the reappointment of Kamlesh Chandra Varshney as a Whole-Time Member (WTM) of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Sanjukta Parashar has been appointed as the Inspector General (IG) of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), an elite jungle warfare unit of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

She becomes the first woman officer to lead the 10-battalion CoBRA sector and succeeds Danesh Rana. It is to be noted that the CoBRA sector is headquartered in New Delhi.

Dr Dinesh Sharma has been appointed as the Lt Gov of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (A&N). He succeeds Admiral (Ret.) Devendra Kumar Joshi.

Bhagwat Prasad Makwana has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK).

Kaishab Bihari, an agriculturist from Odisha, is appointed as the Vice-Chairperson. The tenure for these appointments is until March 2028.

Anil Chakravarthy has been appointed as the President and CEO of Adobe Inc., effective from December 1, 2026.

He succeeds Shantanu Narayen and will also be inducted into the Board of Directors of the company.

Vinai Kumar Saxena, the Lt Gov of Ladakh, has been given the additional charge of Jammu & Kashmir by President Droupadi Murmu.

Dr Vinaya Prakash Singh has been re-elected unopposed as the Secretary-General of the Asian-Pacific Postal Union (APPU) for a second consecutive 4-year term.

It is to be noted that the election was conducted during the 14th APPU Congress held in Bangkok, Thailand.
