Rajeshwari Kumari, a former Indian trap shooter, has been elected as a member of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Athletes Commission to represent the South Asia region for the 2026-2030 term.
She is the second Indian to serve on the commission after Shiva Keshavan, who is currently the Vice-Chairman.
India is set to host the 4th Junior and 11th Senior Asian Pencak Silat Championship in 2027. The international tournament will be held at the Manohar Parrikar Stadium in Goa.
The hosting rights were announced by the Indian Pencak Silat Federation (IPSF) and have been officially endorsed by the International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT).
India is set to host the 11th edition of the “Asian Senior Wushu Championships” for the first time in 2028. The decision was ratified during the Wushu Federation of Asia (WFA) Congress held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Bhupender Singh Bajwa, representing the Wushu Association of India (WAI), has been nominated as a member of the Executive Committee of the WFA. It is to be noted that Wushu is a traditional Chinese martial art and combat sport.
Dhiraj Bommadevara, an Indian archer, has become the first Indian male recurve archer to win the men’s individual title at the Archery World Cup Final 2026 held in Saltillo, Mexico. He secured the victory by defeating Junya Nakanishi of Japan in the final match.
It is to be noted that he is the second Indian archer to win an individual World Cup Final title, following the victory of Dola Banerjee in the women’s recurve category at Dubai in 2007.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) has officially suspended the recognition of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI).
The suspension was enforced due to the failure of the TTFI to conduct organizational elections within the mandated timeframe and severe delays in adopting and uploading audited financial statements.
Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, a former Asian Games shot put bronze medallist popularly known as ‘Baba Dhaliwal’, passed away at the age of 67. He was a recipient of the Arjuna Award in 1987.
