14 September 2026 AWARDS

Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic has been crowned Miss World 2026 at the 73rd edition of the pageant held in Nha Trang, Vietnam. She was crowned by Opal Chuangsri, Miss World 2025 from Thailand.

Nikita Porwal from Madhya Pradesh represented India at the international competition. It is to be noted that the Miss World Organisation (MWO) has scheduled the next edition of the pageant to be hosted in Tanzania in 2027.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched ‘Mission Samriddh Gaon’ at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi to establish a framework for rural transformation.

The initiative, under the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), aims to create poverty-free and employment-rich villages while ensuring universal access to basic amenities. A pilot implementation of the mission will be conducted in Madhya Pradesh. The successful models from the pilot phase will be replicated across the country.

3 August 2026 AGREEMENTS

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the Ministry of Communications has signed an MoU with the Madhya Pradesh government to establish India's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) Phase-I in Gwalior. The agreement was signed at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

A Special Purpose Company (SPC) will be established to implement the project, which is designed on a 'plug-and-play' system.

30 July 2026 STATE

Paras Semiconductors Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Paras Defence and Space Technologies Ltd (PDST), has signed an MoU with the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSeDC) to establish a greenfield Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in the Indore–Ujjain region of Madhya Pradesh. The project involves an investment of ₹6,200 crore.

21 July 2026 STATE

Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav has inaugurated the 'MP Tech Growth Conclave 3.0: GCC – Data Centres and Semiconductors' in Bhopal. The summit has secured investment commitments worth over ₹40,000 crore.

Notably, Submer India (Spain) has proposed an investment of ₹19,000 crore ($2 billion) for hyperscale data centre infrastructure in Bhopal. Furthermore, the state government signed an MoU with Google Play to focus on digital innovation, startup growth, and developer capacity building.

13 July 2026 DEFENCE

Adani Defence and Aerospace, a division of the Adani Group, has invested ₹2,500 crore to establish a facility in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, to create the largest private-sector missile ecosystem in South Asia.

This will be the first private-sector complex in India to integrate composite propellant production, Trinitrotoluene (TNT) manufacturing, and missile system integration at a single location.

5 June 2026 NATIONAL

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved highway infrastructure projects in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

In Madhya Pradesh, the CCEA approved the upgradation of the Hiwarkhedi-Roshni-Ashapur-Rudhy section of NH-347B (125.01 km) to a 2-lane standard with paved shoulders, and the widening of the Deshgaon-Julwaniya section of NH-347B (108.643 km) to a 4-lane standard. These projects will be implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) at a cost of ₹4,415.60 crore.

In Bihar, the CCEA approved the upgradation of the Khagaria-Purnea section of NH-31 and NH-231 to a 4-lane standard, covering a length of 143.529 km. This project will be executed under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) (Toll) mode at a cost of ₹3,936.05 crore.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched the PM Gram Sadak Yojana-IV (PMGSY-IV) during the silver jubilee celebrations of the scheme in Bhairunda, Madhya Pradesh. Under PMGSY-IV, the government has approved 973 roads spanning 2,117.52 km in Madhya Pradesh at a cost of ₹1,763.08 crore. Separately, the centre approved 259 roads, spanning 600.39 km, for the Vidisha parliamentary constituency.

He also handed over a mother sanction worth ₹2,055 crore to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr. Mohan Yadav under the PM Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). Additionally, road projects worth ₹261.81 crore, covering 384.34 km, were approved under the PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).
