The Central Public Works Department (CPWD), under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoH&UA), has celebrated its 172nd Annual Day at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

During the event, Union Minister Manohar Lal unveiled the 'SANKALP' framework. He also released two publications, 'India's Urban Transformation: Reflections from Policy and Practice' and the MoH&UA's coffee table book 'India's Urban Momentum: Towards Making Our Cities Liveable', which highlight the journey of urban development in India.

The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) has celebrated 50 years of its contribution to India's urban development. The golden jubilee celebrations were held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi under the theme 'Resilient Urban India @2047'.

Dr PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, attended the event as the Chief Guest. During the event, the National Urban Learning Platform was launched to strengthen technical capacity building in urban governance through an integrated hybrid learning system and newly introduced technical courses.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has concluded the 13th BRICS Urbanisation Forum at Sushma Swaraj Bhavan in New Delhi. Held under the BRICS Chairship of India 2026, the forum was themed "Cities for People: BRICS Cooperation for Inclusive and Resilient Urban Futures".

The event resulted in the adoption of a 'Ministerial Declaration' and the proposal for a 'BRICS Urban Research and Knowledge Network' to strengthen urban cooperation among member nations. Two publications, "India's Urban Transformation: Stories of Change" and "Cities for People: Urban Stories from BRICS Nations", were also showcased.

The PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme, launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoH&UA), has completed 6 years.

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Tripura CM Manik Saha interacted with beneficiaries from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. During the event, credit cards and loan sanction letters were distributed to street vendors in Tripura.

It is to be noted that over the last 6 years, the scheme has facilitated 1.12 crore loans, with over 1.05 crore collateral-free loans sanctioned across the country, amounting to a total value exceeding ₹17,800 crore.
