The Andhra Pradesh government have signed a Government-to-Government (G2G) MoU with the UK government to strengthen cooperation in urban development, infrastructure, and advanced technology.

The partnership facilitates infrastructure planning and implementation across the state capital Amaravati and 123 municipalities, specifically targeting sectors like roads, drainage systems, water supply, and waste management.

PM Narendra Modi has visited Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various development projects.

In Andhra Pradesh, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for projects worth over ₹17,900 crore. This includes the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in the Vizianagaram district, developed at a cost of over ₹5,640 crore by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Ltd (GVIAL).

In Karnataka, he inaugurated the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre, also known as Viveka Smaraka, in Mysuru to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s historic visit to the city in 1892.

The Andhra Pradesh government and Australia have signed 4 MoUs in Amaravati to boost cooperation in sectors like clean energy, advanced manufacturing, inclusive education, student mental health, and skill development.

Under this partnership, the IIT Tirupati and the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, have agreed to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Solar Manufacturing at the IIT Tirupati campus.

Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu has launched the 'Pillale Sampada' (Children are Wealth) initiative in Vijayawada on World Population Day (July 11).

Under this scheme, eligible families will receive financial assistance of ₹30,000 for the birth of a third child and ₹40,000 for the birth of a fourth child. The initiative aims to address the challenges of declining fertility rates and an ageing population in the state.

4 July 2026 BANKING

The Kakinada Cooperative Town Bank, an Urban Cooperative Bank (UCB) in Andhra Pradesh, has secured Tier-III status under RBI norms. The bank achieved this status after its deposits crossed the ₹2,000 crore mark while maintaining zero net Non-Performing Assets (NPAs).

It is to be noted that the RBI classifies UCBs into three categories based on deposits: Tier-I (deposits below ₹100 crore), Tier-II (deposits up to ₹1,000 crore), and Tier-III (deposits between ₹1,000 crore and ₹10,000 crore).

The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has approved the first private Point-in-Space (PinS) Instrument Approach Procedure for helicopter operations in India at the Undavalli Heliport in Andhra Pradesh.

The procedure was developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The Andhra Pradesh Community Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) initiative has been awarded the 2026 Food Planet Prize.

The prize, presented by the Curt Bergfors Foundation in Bastad, Sweden, is one of the world’s largest environmental awards focusing on the transformation of global food systems. The APCNF received a monetary prize of $1.5 million.

The Andhra Pradesh government, in collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), has announced the launch of an angel fund through the Ratan Tata Innovation Hub (RTIH) in New Delhi.

The initiative aims to make the state a hub for deep-tech innovation by providing startups with early-stage funding, industry access, ecosystem support, and global scaling opportunities.

The National Steering Committee (NSC) has approved the Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) for the Visakhapatnam Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Cluster in Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh has become the first state to operationalise an industry partnership under the PM-SETU scheme.

The plan was submitted by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India in collaboration with its academic partner, New Age Makers Institute of Technology (NAMTECH). It is to be noted that this is the first-ever Strategic Investment Plan cleared under the PM-SETU scheme, which has an outlay of ₹60,000 crore.

Red Balloon Aerospace has launched “Mission SANA”, the first indigenous super-pressure platform of India carrying commercial payloads from 7 national and international partners.

The launch places India among only 5 nations globally, alongside the United States, France, Japan, and China, to possess indigenous stratospheric (hydrogen) balloon capability.

The VISTA super-pressure platform of the company ascended to an altitude of 25 km above Earth from the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. It is to be noted that Red Balloon Aerospace, established in 2025, achieved operational commercial flight within an 8-month timeframe.

27 May 2026 DEFENCE

The DRDO has successfully completed the final deliverable configuration development trials of the indigenous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM)-V3. The trials were conducted in both Air-to-Ground and Air-to-Air modes at the National Open Area Range (NOAR) near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.

The ULPGM-V3 is a lightweight (12.5 kg) fire-and-forget missile with an extended standoff range of up to 10 km. It is to be noted that the missile is a upgrade over its predecessor V1 (free-fall) and V2 (propulsion-added) configurations.

The aerospace division of Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL) has signed an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to establish the first private-sector Marine Gas Turbine (MGT) Repair, Overhaul, and Indigenous Development Complex of India in Visakhapatnam.

The facility will span 80 acres within the AP Defence Manufacturing Corridor developed by the aerospace division of BFL. The complex will be co-located with the Naval Dockyard, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Eksila, and the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) Headquarters in Visakhapatnam.

18 May 2026 STATE

Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has signed an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government to implement the Amended BharatNet Programme (ABP) through a state-led model.

The Government of India has allocated ₹2,432 crore for the implementation of the programme in the state, which will be managed by the AP State Fibernet Ltd (APBIL). The objective of the ABP is to upgrade and expand the BharatNet infrastructure to provide reliable, future-ready broadband connectivity to all Gram Panchayats (GPs) and villages on a demand basis.

16 May 2026 DEFENCE

Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu have laid the foundation stone for an infrastructure project to develop the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) in Sri Sathya Sai, Andhra Pradesh. They also inaugurated a core integration and flight testing centre at Puttaparthi to accelerate the development of the 5th-generation AMCA and other future indigenous platforms.

Additionally, the foundation stone for a naval systems manufacturing facility to support advanced underwater weapons and naval combat systems was laid. The AMCA facility is being established at an estimated cost of ₹2,000 crore, while the total expenditure for the AMCA development programme is projected at approximately ₹15,000 crore.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has officially notified the establishment of the South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone, headquartered in Visakhapatnam. The SCoR is the 18th railway zone in India and is scheduled to start operations from June 2026. The newly created zone will integrate the Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, and Guntur divisions in Andhra Pradesh to strengthen railway administration and infrastructure in the region.

5 May 2026 BUSINESS

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the Google Cloud India AI Hub in Tarluvada, Visakhapatnam. Valued at $15 billion (₹1.35 lakh crore), it is the largest single Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) project in India.

The facility will be managed by Raiden Infotech India Pvt Ltd (a subsidiary of Google) in collaboration with AdaniConneX (a Joint Venture (JV) between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX) and Nxtra by Airtel. The project will be completed over 5 years with a capacity of 1 gigawatt (GW), making it one of the largest AI focused data centers in India.
