The SEBI has introduced a real-time margin waiver framework via an official circular, scheduled to come into force on February 22, 2027. The framework allows clients to utilize the value of shares delivered through Early Pay-in (EPI) towards margin requirements for subsequent buy and sell positions in the cash market.

Under the new rules, Clearing Corporations (CC) will determine the available EPI value on the trade date as the lower of the value of securities for which EPI has been made and the value of securities sold. It is to be noted that if a client squares off their sale position in securities that utilized the EPI benefit, the corresponding EPI value will be removed.
