Marcia Lou Griffin, professionally known as Marcia Lucas, an Oscar winning film editor, passed away at the age of 80.

She was known for her work on the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy and won an Oscar for Best Film Editing for ‘Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope’ in 1978.

Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri (Retd), a senior BJP leader and former CM of Uttarakhand, passed away at the age of 91. He was a veteran of the 1962 Indo-China War and the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak Wars and was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM). He also represented the Garhwal Lok Sabha constituency multiple times, including during the 16th Lok Sabha.

Sudhangshu Seal, a veteran Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) leader, passed away at the age of 81.

He served as an MLA from the Jorabagan constituency between 2001 and 2004. He was elected as an MP from the Kolkata North West constituency in 2004 after defeating Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay.

Mal Anderson, an Australian tennis legend and former World No. 2, passed away at the age of 91. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2000 and was a recipient of the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 1972.

Raghu Rai, a renowned Indian photographer known as the “Father of Indian Photojournalism”, passed away at the age of 83. He was a recipient of Padma Shri in 1972.

In 1977, he became the first Indian photographer to join the international cooperative Magnum Photos, nominated by Henri Cartier-Bresson. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) in 2017 and the Académie des Beaux-Arts Photography Award in 2019.

Balbir Punj, a veteran journalist and former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), passed away at the age of 76. He served two terms in the Rajya Sabha representing Uttar Pradesh from 2000-06 and Odisha from 2008-14. He was also a recipient of the “Lifelong Devrishi Narad Samman Award” in 2022.
