Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence (IoE) Deemed to be University, has been selected as one of the three Indian host institutions for the US-India Fellowship for the 2026-27 academic cycle.

The fellowship is a 12-month programme designed to strengthen scientific and technological collaboration between India and the USA. Selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of $1,650 to support their research and collaborative activities.

Union Minister Annapurna Devi has launched the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The month-long nationwide campaign is scheduled from September 9 to October 8, under the central theme “Hamari Anganwadi Hamari Jimmedari”.

The initiative focuses on 5 key themes: dietary diversity, protein intake, fresh hot cooked meals, community accountability, and nutrition integrated with early childhood development. It also commemorates 10 years of the PM Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) and features a 100% saturation drive.

The Permanent Delegation of India to the UNESCO has announced the inclusion of 4 new cultural heritage sites in the Tentative List of the World Heritage Convention (WHC).

The newly added sites are the Rangpur-Sivasagar Historic Ensemble (Assam), the Colonial Penal Settlement (Andaman Islands), the Nicobarese Cultural Continuity in the Central Group of Nicobar Islands, and the Painted Haveli Towns of Shekhawati (Rajasthan). With this, the total number of sites from India on the UNESCO tentative list has increased to 73.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) US and PwC India have established a Joint Venture (JV) to integrate their advisory talent and capabilities. The JV will create a consulting powerhouse of 40,000 professionals on a single integrated platform.

The initiative aims to scale the global delivery model to assist cross-border clients in navigating technological disruptions and expanding operations.

Chhattisgarh has secured the first position in the country in the third phase of the “Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari” (JSJB 3.0) initiative, a community-driven water conservation programme under the “Catch the Rain” campaign of the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

The state successfully completed 77,719 water conservation structures out of 79,775 registered units. It is to be noted that the “5 Per Cent Model” implemented in the Koriya district promotes the voluntary allocation of 5% of agricultural land for the development of groundwater recharge infrastructure through coordinated local participation.

Joheirry Mola of the Dominican Republic has been crowned Miss World 2026 at the 73rd edition of the pageant held in Nha Trang, Vietnam. She was crowned by Opal Chuangsri, Miss World 2025 from Thailand.

Nikita Porwal from Madhya Pradesh represented India at the international competition. It is to be noted that the Miss World Organisation (MWO) has scheduled the next edition of the pageant to be hosted in Tanzania in 2027.

India has achieved a double triumph by winning both the men’s and women’s titles at the Junior Hockey Asia Cup 2026 held in Hulunbuir City, China.

In the 11th edition of the Men’s Junior Asia Cup, India defeated South Korea 4-1 in the final to retain the title. This marks the 6th continental crown and 4th consecutive victory for the team. Captain Anmol Ekka emerged as the top scorer of the tournament with 17 goals.

In the 10th edition of the Women’s Junior Asia Cup, India secured its 3rd consecutive title after a 1-0 victory against China in the final. Sanika Chandrakant Mane of India was the joint-highest scorer with 7 goals, while Wei Qixiao of China was named the Most Valuable Player).
