Girish Bharadwaj, a social worker known as the 'Bridge Man of India', passed away at the age of 76. He was a recipient of the Padma Shri in 2017.

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav has inaugurated the Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Human-Wildlife Conflict at the Wildlife Institute of India-Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (WII-SACON) in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

During the event, he launched the National Human-Wildlife Conflict Portal to address issues related to the conflict. He also released the inaugural report titled 'Current Status of Human-Wildlife Conflict in India: An Overview', which maps critical trends and identifies emerging challenge zones. Additionally, he presided over the 28th meeting of the reconstituted Wildlife Institute of India (WII) Society.

The Department of Fisheries has organised the national launch of the 'Letter of Authorisation' (LoA) for Sustainable Harnessing of Fisheries in the High Seas in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan presided over the event and launched the LoA for Sustainable Harnessing of Fisheries in the High Seas. He also unveiled the 'Odisha Deep Sea Mission Document'.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched the 'Promoting Regenerative Agriculture Through Agri-Entrepreneurship Initiative' (PRAGATI) in New Delhi.

The programme will be implemented in 8 states: Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. The initiative aims to empower 20,000 agri-entrepreneurs and support 20 lakh smallholder farmers across India by promoting sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture.

PRAGATI aims to increase the income of farmers by at least 30%, improve the yields of major crops by 15-20%, promote regenerative agriculture among 20% of the participating farmers, and enable financial inclusion for 50% of the associated farmers.

The Quality Council of India (QCI) has signed an MoU with the National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC) to establish a collaborative ecosystem to strengthen the quality, competitiveness, and market access of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a UN-backed agency, has launched the 'AI for Good Global Commission' in Geneva, Switzerland, to strengthen global AI governance, inclusion, and innovation frameworks.

The commission comprises 44 founding members and is co-chaired by Rwanda President Paul Kagame and Salesforce Chair and CEO Marc Benioff. India is represented on the commission by 3 founding members: Mukesh Ambani (CMD of Reliance Industries), Sunil Bharti Mittal (Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises Ltd), and Lakshmi N Mittal (Executive Chairman of ArcelorMittal SA).

Keiko Fujimori, the leader of the conservative Popular Force party, has been declared the winner of the 2026 presidential election in Peru.

She will serve as the 10th President of the country, succeeding interim President José María Balcázar.

Kutch Copper Ltd (KCL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL), has received the London Metal Exchange (LME) certification for its "Adani Copper" Grade A cathodes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Sanand, Gujarat. This facility marks the commencement of commercial chip production.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID) has secured a green loan of ¥80 billion from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to finance the Khavda–Nagpur High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission project.

The project is designed to evacuate renewable energy from the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Gujarat to Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The Delhi government has announced the "Clean Air, Healthy Delhi" programme with an outlay of ₹8,300 crore to mitigate air pollution in the national capital. The project will be implemented with the support of the World Bank.

The Delhi government has renamed the Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation as the Indraprastha Virasat Punarvikas Nigam (IVPN). The corporation was established to oversee the conservation and redevelopment of Old Delhi.

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a proposal to rename Jalalabad town in the Shahjahanpur district to Parashurampuri.

The municipal body of the town will also be renamed as the Parashurampuri Nagar Palika Parishad.

Amit Garg has been appointed as the Director of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). He succeeds Alok Ranjan and will serve in this position until October 2027.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has been named the global winner of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2026. The award was conferred under Action Line C6 - Enabling Environment for its flagship project, 'Samriddh Gram: Integrated Phygital Service Delivery Model Enabled by BharatNet'.

The recognition was presented during the WSIS Forum 2026 held in Geneva. The WSIS Prizes, instituted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), honour Information and Communication Technology (ICT) projects that advance sustainable development.

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Rajasthan government have organised the 29th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur.

The conference was inaugurated by Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma under the theme "Viksit Bharat 2047: AI-enabled, Data-driven & Secure Digital Governance."

The National Awards for e-Governance 2026 were presented during the event, recognising excellence with 17 awards across 7 categories. The conference concluded with the adoption of the "Jaipur Declaration on e-Governance 2026," which establishes a roadmap for strengthening AI-enabled, data-driven, and secure digital governance across India.
