Under the BRICS 2026 Chairship of India, the inaugural BRICS Tourism Working Group (TWG) Meeting was held virtually to advance the tourism cooperation agenda under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.

The second TWG Meeting is scheduled to be held in August 2026 in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has virtually inaugurated the first Small and Medium Enterprise (SME)-led semiconductor Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) / Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in India at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan.

The facility has been established by Sahasra Semiconductors Pvt Ltd under the Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Electronic Components and Semiconductors (SPECS). Constructed with an investment of over ₹150 crore, the unit spans an area of 57,000 sq ft.

Rajasthan has inaugurated its first semiconductor plant and a new Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Bhiwadi.

Established by Sahasra Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd with an investment of over ₹150 crore, it is the first Small and Medium Enterprise (SME)-led semiconductor plant in India to start commercial production.

The Supreme Court of India (SCI) has officially declared the “Right to Safe Road Travel” as an integral part of the Right to Life under Article 21 of the Constitution of India.

The judgment was delivered in the case of “In Re: Phalodi Accident”, where the SCI examined critical issues related to road safety and the accountability of authorities on highways and expressways.

22 April 2026 STATE

The World Bank has approved a $225 million (₹2,080 crore) loan for the Rajasthan Highway Modernisation Project to improve the efficiency, resilience, and safety of state highways.

The loan, provided by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), features a 35-year maturity period and a 5-year grace period. It is to be noted that the financial package includes the first Step-Up Loan (SuL) of India to support the modernization of the road network of the state.

16 April 2026 NATIONAL

The Union Cabinet has approved Phase-2 of the Jaipur Metro Project, which involves the development of a 41 km long corridor connecting Prahladpura to Todi Mod at an estimated cost of ₹13,037.66 crore.

The Cabinet has also authorized the revised cost for the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Ltd (HRRL) project. The total outlay of the project has been increased from ₹43,129 crore to ₹79,459 crore.
