Union Minister JP Nadda has inaugurated “Arogya Manthan 2026” at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, to mark the 8th anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat PM Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and the 5th anniversary of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

Under the AB PM-JAY, Andhra Pradesh (large state), Sikkim (small state), and Jammu & Kashmir (Union Territory - UT) were recognized for the highest card saturation among Accredited Social Health Activists, Anganwadi Workers, and Anganwadi Helpers). Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat were awarded for claim settlement efficiency in inter-state portability.

In the ABDM category, Bihar, Ladakh, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli were the top performers in model districts. Chandigarh, Assam, and Uttar Pradesh were honored for the highest implementation of ABDM-enabled Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) in sub-centres.

The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), in collaboration with the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), has launched “CAG-BHASHINI Anuvaad”, an AI-enabled document translation solution.

The platform, developed by BHASHINI, is specifically designed to facilitate the translation of official documents and audit-related reports of the CAG.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has launched GOBARdhan, a Central Sector Scheme for the development of the Compressed Biogas (CBG) sector. The Union Cabinet has approved the scheme with a total outlay of ₹23,731 crore for a period of 10 years, from FY27 to FY36.

The scheme aims to increase the domestic production of CBG by nearly 10-fold to 5 Million Metric Standard Cubic Metres per Day (MMSCMD). To support the implementation, he has also launched the GOBARdhan Handbook and the Unified GOBARdhan Portal.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has designated four major and commercial facilities as the first “mega ports” of India under Section 73 of the Indian Ports Act, 2025.

The identified ports include the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Nhava Sheva, Paradip Port, Deendayal Port in Kandla, and the Mundra Port operated by the Adani Group.

The “mega port” status is granted for a 5-year duration, subject to periodic reviews, based on specific operational benchmarks. To qualify for this status, a bulk port must register an annual cargo throughput of at least 150 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT), while a container port is required to handle a minimum of 7.5 Million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (MTEUs).

According to the “Asian Development Outlook (ADO) September 2026: Navigating Prolonged Energy Shocks and El Nino” report released by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of India for FY27 is raised to 7% (an increase of 40 basis points from the earlier estimate of 6.6%).

The report also projected the inflation rate of India for FY27 at 5%.

Banking

Sagarmala Finance Corporation Ltd has launched the inaugural blue bond in India. The bond aims to raise ₹600 crore, with a ₹500 crore green shoe option, and has a tenor of 10 years.

The debt offering received an AA+ rating, signifying its status in the upper tier of domestic debt instruments, and SBI Capital Markets served as the arranger for the issuance. It is to be noted that SMFCL is the first NBFC in India dedicated to the maritime sector.

The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has issued operational guidelines for the National Pension System (NPS) Swasthya Pension Scheme under Section 14 of the PFRDA Act, 2013. The scheme allows an entry age of 18 to 70 years, with renewals permitted up to 85 years.

The minimum initial contribution includes the first-year insurance premium, ₹200 for annual maintenance charges of the Health Benefit Administrator, and at least ₹1,000 for investment in the NPS Swasthya account. The minimum subsequent contribution required is ₹10.

Agreements

Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has signed an agreement for the implementation of the Amended BharatNet Program (ABP) in Maharashtra under a State-led model.

The agreement was formalized through a collaboration between the Maharashtra government, MahaNet Digital Infrastructure Ltd (MDIL), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), and Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation Ltd (MahaIT).

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has signed an MoU with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) to conduct research on alternative fumigation technologies for the safe and sustainable management of storage pests in wheat and rice.

The two-year Phase-I project will be implemented by the Ludhiana-based ICAR - Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET).

According to the “OAG Megahubs 2026 report” released by the Official Airline Guide (OAG), the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) of Delhi is ranked 28th globally.

Istanbul Airport (IST) of Turkiye is ranked as the most connected international airport with flight connections to 337 destinations. It is followed by London Heathrow Airport and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

According to the 10th edition of the “Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI 2026): Insight Report September 2026” released by the World Economic Forum (WEF), India is ranked 31st with an overall score of 4.42.

Japan is ranked top with a score of 5.27, followed by the USA, Spain, Australia, and France. Mali is ranked at the bottom of the index with a score of 2.75.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the acquisition of equity share capital in IndiaFirst Life Insurance Company Ltd by the France-based BNP Paribas Cardif.

In other news, the CCI has authorised the indirect acquisition of a majority stake and voting rights in Everllence SE (including its subsidiaries) by funds managed or advised by Bain Capital Investors, LLC. This acquisition involves a share transfer from Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft (Volkswagen) to the funds of Bain Capital Investors, LLC.

Bodhana Sivanandan, an 11-year-old Indian-origin British chess prodigy, becomes the youngest Woman Grandmaster (WGM) in history.

She secured her third and final WGM norm while representing England at the 46th Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It is to be noted that she previously set a record as the youngest player to represent the country internationally at the age of 9.
