India has hosted the 10th BRICS Industry Ministers Meeting in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The meeting focused on the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) initiatives and concluded with the adoption of a Joint Declaration.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), through the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), hosted the 'BRICS WAVES Bazaar 2026' in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The event featured the India-Russia co-production 'KOROVA', the launch of the BRICS Independent Producers Alliance (BIPA), and the signing of several agreements.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal has felicitated top buyers and leading sellers during the 10th foundation day celebration of the Government e Marketplace (GeM) held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

During the event, GeM launched a nationwide 5-digit short code helpdesk number '14550' to improve its support services. A customized 'My Stamp' and a commemorative film showcasing the 10-year journey of GeM were also launched.

Indian Bank approved nearly ₹500 crore in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) loans to 128 beneficiaries during a Credit Outreach Programme in New Delhi.

Credit proposals worth nearly ₹1,250 crore were mobilised during the event, which was held as part of the 120th Foundation Day Fortnight Celebrations of the bank. The programme also marked the launch of the Unified MSME Portal, a digital platform designed to provide seamless and integrated lending services for MSME customers.

12 August 2026 AGREEMENTS

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has signed an MoU with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to accelerate the commercialisation and global market access of the Geographical Indication (GI) products of India.

Under the initiative, the ‘Bharat GI’ banner was launched to integrate regional GI products onto digital platforms.

The 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting was held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, under India’s BRICS Chairship for 2026. Chaired by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, the meeting was held under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.

Additionally, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) hosted the BRICS Heads of Competition Authorities meeting in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The event featured a collaborative study on the renewable energy sector, presentations on recent enforcement initiatives, and strategic planning for the 2027 conference in Brazil.

EbixCash World Money Ltd has become the first Authorised Dealer Category-II (AD-II) entity in India to receive authorization from the RBI to facilitate trade and family maintenance remittances, a domain previously dominated by banks.

The enhanced licence permits EbixCash to process trade remittances up to ₹25 lakh per transaction. Furthermore, the entity has received authorization to maintain Nostro accounts, enabling the direct settlement of international transactions without routing them through intermediary correspondent banks.

The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has launched the Electronic Commerce Council of India (ECCI) in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The ECCI is a nationwide platform designed to strengthen the digital commerce ecosystem of India through collaboration among the industry, government, and other stakeholders. It has already onboarded 70 to 80 members.

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has mandated that all Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) must route the settlement of invoices related to procurement from MSMEs through the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS).

The TReDS mechanism has been progressively expanded, starting with mandatory onboarding for CPSEs and companies with a turnover above ₹500 crore in 2018. The threshold was lowered to ₹250 crore in 2024, and mandatory TReDS settlement will be implemented from June 30, 2026.

According to the Ministry of MSME, invoice financing through the TReDS platform has grown from ₹40,000 crore in FY22 to ₹3.47 trillion in FY26. It is to be noted that the TReDS is an electronic platform regulated by the RBI that facilitates the financing and discounting of trade receivables of MSMEs by multiple financiers.

7 July 2026 AGREEMENTS

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has signed an MoU with the IIT Madras, IIT Pravartak, SWAYAM Plus, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), and the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) to launch the Corporate Mitra Scheme.

The primary objective of the scheme is to create a pool of trained Corporate Mitras to provide support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The World Bank has approved $1.5 billion (₹14,300 crore) in financing to support India's structural reforms aimed at accelerating private sector-led job creation.

This funding is provided under the 'Boosting Job Creation in the Private Sector Development Policy Financing (DPF) Operation'. The initiative aims to generate quality employment opportunities for the 11 million young individuals who enter the Indian workforce annually.

The RBI has relaxed capital requirements for bank loans backed by the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS 5.0), effective immediately.

Under the revised norms, 75% of the guaranteed portion of the loan attracts a zero-risk weight, while the remaining 25% of the exposure attracts a 20% risk weight. To qualify for the 0% risk weight, banks must settle claims within 30 days from the date of invocation.

20 June 2026 AGREEMENTS

The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has partnered with the Common Service Centre e-Governance Services India Ltd (CSC-SPV) to expand access to government procurement in rural and underserved regions.

Under this partnership, 50 GeM Suvidha Kendras (GSKs) will be established on a pilot basis through the CSC network. These GSKs will be operational in states including Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, and West Bengal.
