Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi have inaugurated the 7th Agrivoltaics World Conference (AWC 2026) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The conference is held under the theme “Powering the Global South”.

It is to be noted that this is the first time the conference is hosted in India and the Global South. During the closing ceremony, France was given the responsibility of hosting the 8th Agri-Voltaics World Conference in 2027.

The National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched the Ayushman Vay Vandana (AVV) healthcare initiative for all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their socio-economic status.

Under the initiative, eligible senior citizens will receive health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.

The central government has extended the tenure of the High-Powered Task Force (HPTF) on examination reforms until January 2027. The task force is headed by Nandan Nilekani, the co-founder of Infosys.

Union Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav has launched the 4th edition of the Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign (TFYC 4.0) at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences (ABVIMS) and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia (Dr RML) Hospital in New Delhi.

According to the “Monthly Economic Review for October 2026” released by the Ministry of Finance, the GDP growth of India is projected at 7.35% in the second quarter (Q2: July-September) of FY27.

The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) emerged as the strongest indicator, recording an 8% annual growth rate in August 2026.

Air India has partnered with SBI Card and Visa Inc. to launch a co-branded credit card offering travel and lifestyle benefits to members of the Maharaja Club loyalty programme of Air India.

It is to be noted that this is the first co-branded credit card venture of Air India since its privatization and acquisition by the Tata Group in 2022.

India and Sri Lanka have strengthened cultural cooperation through the South Asian Manuscript Histories and Textual Archive (SAMHiTA) Palm-Leaf Manuscript Digitisation Project in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The project, undertaken by the New Delhi-based India International Centre (IIC) with grant assistance from the Government of India (GoI), aims to digitise 100 ancient manuscripts to preserve the shared Buddhist, religious, and intellectual heritage of both countries. Under a signed MoU, the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo has become the first institution in Sri Lanka to participate in the project.

India is ranked 88th out of 143 countries (covering 95% of the world’s population) with an overall score of 0.48 in the “WJP Rule of Law Index 2026” released by the World Justice Project (WJP).

Denmark topped the index with a score of 0.9, followed by Norway and Finland. Venezuela recorded the lowest rank in the index with an overall score of 0.26.

The Ministry of Defence has signed contracts worth ₹53,866.50 crore with Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) and Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) for the acquisition of eight Next Generation Corvettes (NGCs) for the Indian Navy.

Under the terms of the contracts, GRSE will construct five corvettes, while GSL will build the remaining three.

Jio Platforms Ltd (JPL) has made its stock market debut, registering the largest-ever Initial Public Offering (IPO) in India with a fundraise of ₹30,188 crore.

Upon listing, the market value of JPL reached ₹12.6 lakh crore, making it the second most valuable company in India behind its parent organisation, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL).

Driven by this debut, the Reliance Group surpassed the Tata Group to become the most valuable business conglomerate in India. Furthermore, the IPO of the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) was officially listed on the stock market in September.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, who also holds the finance portfolio, has presented a supplementary budget of ₹7,844.18 crore for the FY27 in the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly.

Vijay Sankar, the Chairman of The Sanmar Group, has been appointed as the President-Elect of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) for 2026–27. He succeeds Anant Goenka.

Nikhil Dhoka has been appointed as the CEO of JioBlackRock Broking Pvt Ltd, a digital brokerage joint venture between Jio Financial Services and BlackRock.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) Organising Committee have unveiled “Stars Align” as the official slogan for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Los Angeles is set to host the Summer Olympic Games for the third time in 2028. It is to be noted that the official Olympic motto is “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together”, whereas the Paralympic motto is “Change Starts with Sport”.

India secured the 4th position in the medal standings with a total of 114 medals, comprising 30 gold, 35 silver, and 49 bronze, at the 5th Asian Para Games 2026 (officially known as Aichi–Nagoya 2026) held in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya, Japan.

China topped the medal standings with 435 medals (including 207 gold), followed by Japan and Uzbekistan. The APC flag was handed over to Doha, Qatar, the host of the 6th Asian Para Games 2030.

Christo Popov of France has won the men’s singles title at the Yonex French Open 2026 Badminton Tournament. In the women’s singles final, An Se-young of South Korea defeated PV Sindhu of India.
