Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated and launched key development, rail, and healthcare projects worth ₹9,400 crore in Telangana on May 19, 2026. These initiatives include India’s first functional PM MITRA textile park in Warangal, a massive fuel storage terminal in Malkapur, and a major quaternary care cancer hospital in Hyderabad. Together, these projects aim to boost the industrial, logistics, and healthcare infrastructure of the Deccan region.
First PM MITRA Park at Warangal
The inauguration of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal marks the operationalization of India’s first functional Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Park. The PM MITRA scheme was launched in 2021 by the Ministry of Textiles with a total budget outlay of ₹4,445 crore to be implemented over a seven-year period until 2027-28. The policy is built upon the “5F” vision, which encompasses Farm, Fibre, Factory, Fashion, and Foreign, to integrate the entire textile supply chain in single locations.
The Warangal park spans approximately 1,327 acres and has been developed at a project cost of ₹1,695.54 crore. As a brownfield project under the scheme, the park is eligible to receive ₹200 crore in Development Capital Support along with ₹300 crore under the Competitive Incentive Support (CIS) mechanism. The facility is expected to attract more than ₹6,000 crore in private investments and generate around 24,400 direct jobs, with a substantial proportion of these opportunities dedicated to women.
To ensure environmental sustainability, the park features a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) designed with Zero Liquid Discharge technology, which prevents untreated industrial waste from polluting local water bodies. The site is strategically located near the upcoming Nagpur to Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway, providing seamless road, rail, and port connectivity. This positioning aims to reduce logistical friction and enhance the global competitiveness of Indian textile exports.
Boosting Energy Security with Malkapur POL Terminal
The Prime Minister dedicated the new Greenfield Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) terminal developed by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Malkapur near Hyderabad. Built at an investment of ₹611 crore, the facility has a total storage capacity of 1,80,000 kilolitres. It serves as the terminating point for the 1,212-kilometre Paradip to Hyderabad product pipeline, enabling a direct transit of petroleum products from India’s eastern coast to the southern interior.
This project facilitates a major transition from a rail-dependent fuel supply system to a modern pipeline-fed network. This shift is designed to cater to the growing fuel demands of 23 districts across Telangana. By shifting fuel transportation from roads and railways to underground pipelines, the project reduces road congestion and secures a more reliable energy supply chain for the state.
The operationalization of the Malkapur terminal is expected to generate annual logistics savings of approximately ₹290 crore. In terms of environmental benefits, reducing road tanker movements is projected to prevent about 27,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year. Looking ahead, the terminal is designed to handle a total throughput of 1,891 thousand metric tonnes per annum (TMTPA) by the fiscal year 2029-30.
Enhancing Healthcare: The Sindhu Hospital
The Prime Minister dedicated the Sindhu Hospital in Hyderabad, marking a significant addition to the healthcare infrastructure of southern India. Founded by Rajya Sabha member Dr. Bandi Parthasaradhi Reddy, who also serves as the founder-chairman of the Hetero Group of Companies, the hospital is operated by the Sai Sindhu Foundation. The state government allotted land for the facility in Khanamet, Hitech City, on a non-profit basis to support the establishment of this charitable care center.
The facility is a cancer-focused, multi-super speciality quaternary care not-for-profit institution designed to provide accessible medical treatment. Quaternary care refers to highly specialized medicine that includes advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures not commonly available in standard hospitals. The hospital occupies a massive built-up area of 2.1 million square feet across 18 floors. It is equipped with 1,500 beds, over 150 doctor consultation rooms, and 29 advanced operation theatres.
In addition to cancer treatment services such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and bone marrow transplants, the hospital provides specialized care across more than 33 medical specialities. It also integrates cutting-edge technologies, including the da Vinci robotic-assisted surgery system, which allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with enhanced precision and control. By focusing on non-profit tertiary and quaternary care, the institution aims to reduce the financial burden of advanced cancer treatments on families from lower and middle-income groups.
Other Key Infrastructure Initiatives
During the visit, the Prime Minister dedicated key railway infrastructure projects designed to ease traffic bottlenecks on critical routes. This includes completed sections of the Kazipet to Vijayawada multi-tracking project, which is a 118-kilometre section of a larger 219-kilometre third-line project. The multi-tracking project aims to decongest the busy Grand Trunk route, improving the punctuality of passenger trains and increasing freight capacity for essential commodities such as coal, cement, and agricultural produce.
Additionally, the 21-kilometre Kazipet Rail Under Rail (RUR) bypass was dedicated to the nation. This bypass line permits simultaneous train operations toward Hyderabad, Balharshah, and Vijayawada without requiring trains to stop or slow down at the congested Kazipet Junction. By preventing criss-cross movements, the RUR line significantly reduces waiting times for both cargo and passenger trains.
In another major development for regional industrial growth, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Zaheerabad Industrial Area in the Sangareddy district. Developed under the Hyderabad to Nagpur Industrial Corridor (HNIC) as part of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme, the industrial zone spans 3,245 acres and involves a developmental investment of over ₹2,350 crore. The smart integrated industrial township targets sectors such as food processing, automobiles, metals, machinery, and electrical equipment, and is expected to attract about ₹10,000 crore in private investments.
