The Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra has launched a first-of-its-kind sensor-based water management system on a pilot basis.

The system regulates water levels at wildlife waterholes automatically using a water-level sensor, a controller, and a relay connected to waterhole pumps.

ReNew Wind Energy Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ReNew Energy Global PLC (ReNew), has signed an MoU with the Maharashtra government to establish an integrated green data centre park in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) with an investment of ₹70,000 crore.

The Tata Power Company Ltd has partnered with Norway-based renewable energy technology company Ocean Sun to introduce membrane-based floating solar technology in India.

As a part of the partnership, a nearly 300 kilowatt-peak (kWp) floating solar pilot project will be set up at the Mulshi reservoir in Maharashtra. This marks the first installation of Ocean Sun in India.

The loan is structured as a 10-year United States Dollar (USD)-linked External Commercial Borrowing (ECB). The funds will be utilized to develop Shore Power Supply (SPS) infrastructure across the terminals of the JNPA in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.

The Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education (MoE) has sanctioned the establishment of 5 Centres of Excellence (CoEs) for the study of classical languages.

The CoE for Classical Assamese will be located at Tezpur University (Assam), while the CoE for Classical Bengali will be at Visva-Bharati University (West Bengal). The Deccan College Post-Graduate and Research Institute in Pune will host the CoE for Classical Marathi. The Central University of Odisha and the Central University of Gujarat have been designated for the CoEs of Classical Pali and Classical Prakrit, respectively.

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has designated four major and commercial facilities as the first “mega ports” of India under Section 73 of the Indian Ports Act, 2025.

The identified ports include the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Nhava Sheva, Paradip Port, Deendayal Port in Kandla, and the Mundra Port operated by the Adani Group.

The “mega port” status is granted for a 5-year duration, subject to periodic reviews, based on specific operational benchmarks. To qualify for this status, a bulk port must register an annual cargo throughput of at least 150 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT), while a container port is required to handle a minimum of 7.5 Million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (MTEUs).

Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has signed an agreement for the implementation of the Amended BharatNet Program (ABP) in Maharashtra under a State-led model.

The agreement was formalized through a collaboration between the Maharashtra government, MahaNet Digital Infrastructure Ltd (MDIL), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), and Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation Ltd (MahaIT).
