IIT Madras has become the first institution in India to introduce OmegaBall, a high-intensity three-team variant of football that is rapidly gaining popularity worldwide. There are no throw-ins in OmegaBall. If the ball goes out of play, the game restarts with a corner kick from one of three designated dead-ball zones located around the pitch. The ball can be played in any direction from a corner kick, including directly towards any of the three goals.

The Birth of OmegaBall: From Idea to Reality
OmegaBall was born out of a casual conversation between Dittmann and his former ESPN colleagues Bob Funk and Jamie Hemann in late 2019. The discussion was initially about starting a new American football league, but Funk, who owned the Oklahoma City Energy FC of the United Soccer League, suggested that soccer offered a better investment opportunity.
Dittmann, who had spent years producing events including the ESPY Awards and the X Games, began sketching ideas on paper.
